1. What is idrivetrucks.com?
idrivetrucks.com is an online e-learning platform for CDL College, a Commercial Driving School located in Aurora, CO. idrivetrucks.com utilizes the latest E-Learning techniques to help you learn and retain the knowledge required to get your CDL and Endorsements. Our courses are simple to use and are easy to understand no matter what your learning style is. You will read it, see it, hear it, and use it in our courses. Each course comes with interactive quizzes to help you test and retain the knowledge you have gained. The days of reading the CDL manual are over. We take the effort out of learning with the design of our courses. You just sit back and follow along and you will have gained all the knowledge required with little or no effort. Most students can take this course and pass their tests on the first try.

2. How long is each course?
The Class A, Class B, Class B with Passenger Complete courses have over six hours of learning material.

3. Are the courses online or download or do you send me a cd or what?
All of our courses are taken online. They are free to take and you can take the courses anytime.

4. Are the courses free?
Yes, you can take the courses without having to login or signup. Enjoy.

5. What do I need to view your courses?
All you need is a computer with an internet connection and flash installed. Flash can be downloaded for free here.

6. What is your return policy if I am not happy with my purchase?
We hear at idrivetrucks.com have only 1 rule. If you are not satisfied with your purchase, you will get you money back!

Getting your CDL FAQ

1. What steps are involved in getting my CDL License?

A. Get and pass a DOT physical and receive your DOT Physical card. You can usually get your DOT physical from your regular doctor or by doing a search for walk-in clinics in your neighborhood. After you receive your DOT card, you must carry it on your person at all times as per the law.

B. Take our online courses to get you prepared for the written tests at the DMV. Everything you need to know is in our online courses. You will learn and retain the knowledge easier using our courses vs reading the state CDL manual.

C. Take the written tests at a full service Motor Vehicle office in your State. After passing the tests you will receive your CDL Permit. At this point you have completed a very large hurdle in getting your CDL. Good job.

D.Get training.

E. The Driving Skills Test. It is now time to take the Driving Skills Test. This is a three part test - Pre-Trip Inspection, Backing Maneuvers, and Road Test. We have a course that covers every aspect of these parts of the test. The course is included in all the complete courses and can also be purchased separately.

F. Get your license from a Full Service Motor Vehicle Office. After passing the Driving Skills test all that is left is to get the actual license. Congratulations, you did it. Now go out there and start making some money.

2. What are the classes of CDL?
Class A: GVWR of 26,001 pounds or more and the ability to tow more than 10,000 pounds
Class B: GVWR of 26,001 pounds or more but towing capacity under 10,000 pounds
Class C: GVWR under 26,001 pounds intended to carry 16 or more passengers or hazardous waste

3. Can I use my Class A to Operate a Class B and C Vehicle?
Yes. Double check your endorsements, but you can drive a Class B and C vehicle if you have a Class A, but not the other way around.

4. Where can I get my DOT physical?
Almost every doctor can do the DOT physical. So, if you have a doctor you like to use, then start there. If you don't have a regular doctor then do a search for walk-in clinics in your neighborhood.

5. Do I need a DOT physical card that was issued in my State in order to take the driving test?
No. As long as you have a DOT physical card and it is current and valid, then that is acceptable.

Trucking FAQ

1. How much money can I make as a CDL Truck Driver?
Local - $27k - $35K per yr starting out.
OTR(Over the Road) - $40k - $50k per yr starting out.

2. How many jobs are available in the CDL Truck Driving Industry?
There are approximately 2500-10,000 trucking jobs available at any given time in any state. It is one of the easiest industries to get a job in at one of the highest pay rates for entry level experience.

3. Do trucking companies offer benefits?
Yes. Most trucking companies offer very good healthcare plans as well as other benefits.

4. What do trucking companies look for in a driver?
Clean MVR, Clean history, No drugs or alcohol, training or experience.

5. How do the hours work in the trucking industry?
Local - usually work 40-60 hours in a week with weekends off. You usually get paid by the hour.
OTR - Paid by the mile. Typically gone 2-3 weeks at a time and get 1 day off for each week out on the road.

6. How many hours a day can I drive a truck?
In accordance with Department of Transportation (D.O.T.) regulations, drivers are allowed to be on duty no more than 70 hours in eight consecutive days (10 hours driving, eight hours off).
